It was unfinished business for the actor when he last went to Los Angeles.
It was unfinished business for actor Kunal Khemu when he last went to Los Angeles. The city beckoned him! Hence this time it was a well planned trip to LA that an enthusiastic Khemu had been keenly looking forward to.
“My last trip was too short. There were so many things I wanted to do and so many places I wanted to visit, but couldn’t,” he says.
Six days in LA and four in San Francisco, and Kunal and Soha call this one of their best vacations ever.
The actor says he also loves visiting adventure parks. “I really wanted to go the roller coaster park ‘6 Flags’ in LA. We visited the Universal Studios, as Soha had never been there and I wanted to try out the magnificent 3D King Kong ride designed by Peter Jackson himself,” exclaims Khemu.
He also went to a shooting range for the first time. “I went to a shooting range and fired live firearms — the experience is so completely different from the pretence in films — I felt a huge rush and a huge sense of responsibility too,” he adds.
After their indulgences in LA, the two decided to spend the last four days of their trip in San Francisco.
“Both Soha and I have quite a lot of friends in San Francisco who we decided to visit. Fantastic food, retail therapy and a bunch of friends to chill with — made for all the ingredients of a perfect holiday! We saw the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, Fisherman’s Wharf, Palo Alto and Stanford University,” he says.
Holidays are a great extravagance for Kunal who, unlike Soha, doesn’t mind binging on his favourite snacks! “I don’t mind calories. For nine days I only had pizzas while burgers were my staple lunch. While my diet went for a toss, Soha managed to stick to her salads and veggies.”
Khemu claims to be not so much of a huge shopping buff otherwise but cannot
resist the temptation of it while travelling.
“The shopaholic in me comes out when I am travelling,” he laughs. However, his shopping spree was all about picking up some fancy electronic gadgets. “I am not really tech savvy, but when I get a chance to shop and holiday, I kind of give into it. This time I bought myself an iPad, iPod Touch and a few more small gizmos.”
The actor’s fondness for the city is unconditional. “If I have it my way I would have a month-long vacation here; the city never fails to fascinate me.”
Khemu also admits why this vacation was so unlike any other he has had. “I have never walked so much in my life ever,” he declares.
