The Goa government has recommended that a criminal case be filed against organisers of Sunburn 2011, an electronic dance and music festival, for selling tickets without getting proper permission for the event, scheduled here between December 27-29.

Superintendent of Police (North) Waman Tari said police are examining the possibility of filing a criminal complaint.

"We have not yet registered the case. I cannot say anything on when we will file the complaint against them," Tari said.

He stated that the organisers were yet to get clearances from the State Home ministry.  Sunburn 2011 is scheduled to happen at Candolim beach, nine kms away from here.

The three-day event will be entering its fifth edition this time and many Bollywood celebrities are expected to attend it including  Akshay Kumar, wife Twinkle Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Pratiek Babbar, Ameesha Patel, Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor.

Ministerial sources said that Home minister Ravi Naik had noted that tickets for the festival were being sold although no formal permission has been granted.

He had also stated that since the organisers were not paying entertainment tax, their act could be termed as forgery.

Director of Prosecution Shobha Dhumaskar had given her opinion to the state government that a case against the organizers could be filed for selling tickets sans permission to hold the festival.

Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director, Percept Limited, who are the organisers, said that they have nothing to say on the Home ministry’s comments.

"All permissions are in process. We are hopeful and keeping fingers cross that Sunburn at Goa will be a success," he said.
