A new portrait of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh has been released as part of an exhibition to mark next year's Diamond Jubilee.

In the majestic photograph, the Queen and Prince Philip sit side by side on a two-seater sofa in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor.

“I selected what you call a love seat... which would make them sit together and yet both in their own aura,” the Daily Express quoted photographer Thomas Struth as saying.

The 85-year-old monarch was seen wearing a mint-coloured dress as she sat with her husband on the ‘love seat’.

The National Portrait Gallery commissioned the picture.
