Finding it difficult to shuttle between your office, home and the place of your child’s summer camps? No more worries, if you are residing in an apartment. Residents of several apartments have come out with a solution to bring trainers and teachers to their doorstep, by organising open classes inside their premises. Little Advaith attends his swimming lessons every morning at the pool in his apartment complex at Whitefield. Later in the afternoon, his nanny accompanies him to the terrace where he practices yoga with children of his age as a yoga instructor teaches them various asanas.

“It is best this way to organise activities for my son. Since we are away at work, I am happy that he is pre-occupied with activity, within the premises,” said Nisha Marwadi, Advaith’s mother and a textile designer.

Not just Advaith, but most children residing in apartment complexes are lucky to get their activity classes organised at home. Debgiri Sanyal, a resident of Gopalan Complex at Brookfield, and a software professional is happy, that he does not need to hunt for summer camps to engage his daughters, as the apartment has organised some activities.

“We have organised a number of activities in our apartment, which will keep the children busy. We have swimming classes with the coach coming thrice a week. That apart, we have clay modelling classes and art classes in the apartment where children of various age groups take lessons,” he said. Since the apartment houses 525 families, there is no dearth of children from the same age group to organise classes, he said.

“Some of the members have taken the initiative to conduct a camp in Ooty and Kodaikanal next month. Since the organisers are from the apartment, we know that our children will be in safe hands,” said Sanyal.

“We have organised swimming, badminton and yoga classes for our children. While we get professional instructors to train our kids, the burden of the cost is also not much, since it is shared by 10 to 15 families,” said Sandeep Chadha, a resident of Adarsh Rhythm on Banerghatta Road. His 11-year-old younger son has enrolled for swimming and badminton lessons.

Conducting classes in an apartment has its own advantages too. Residents need not necessarily depend on an outsider to train the kids. Instead, they can double up as teachers and keep the children busy with various activities.

“An English grammar class has been organised by one of our apartment members and parents are happy that before schools reopen, their children will have a fair knowledge about tenses and prepositions,” said Sandeep.

Children at the Veracius Sonesta Apartment on Old Airport Road are engaged this season with a morning schedule of swimming sessions, followed by karate, dance and painting classes.
