Tell us about how you met Fergie and got to design for her…
We showcased our Autumn Winter Collection at London Fashion week this time which was attended by many renowned stylists. One of the stylists highly recommended us to Fergie’s stylist who then came for our press day in LA. There she sourced a few outfits for Ozzy Osbourne and she mentioned she is styling Fergie for the FIFA Opening Ceremony performance. Then we got a final call from her giving us the go ahead to custom make something for the pop diva herself. We sent the sketches for approval and the director of the show approved of the outfits and now she’s all set to wear it.
What was she like to design for? Did she have a specific idea in mind about the dress or was it both of you?
Designing an outfit for an on stage performance is very different from designing a general outfit. We have to keep several things in mind such as the outfit has to be bling and look larger than life but at the same time it has to be light weight so that the artiste has no problem moving around and dancing in it.
Tell us little about the dress?
The dress is a body suit which has a very futuristic look yet is colourful going with the whole South African feel. The outfit is geometrical with huge embellished armour for the shoulder. It has a metal look and has big “F” on it for Fergie which Fergie completely loved.
Are you doing more dresses for her or any other international personality in the near future?
We have recently designed outfits for international celebrities like Laila Rouass, Michelle Williams, Cheryl Cole, Josh Stone, Naomi Harris from Pirates of the Caribbean Fame, British singer Alex Roots, Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child. Israeli model and presenter Hofit Golan was also seen in an FSP outfit at the Cannes this year.
What about future projects?
We are in talks with Lady Gaga’s stylist for a future project which we cannot reveal much about.
