Designer duo Abhi-Rahul to showcase at Bangalore fashion week

We are two separate labels now,” says Rahul Singh, adding, “Abhi (my older brother) goes by Abhi Singh and I go by Rahul Singh as our new labels. In fact, we are coming together as Abhi-Rahul (our old label) only for the fashion week in Bangalore.”

The decision to become two different labels has nothing to do with sibling rivalry — Abhi-Rahul as one label focussed a lot on Indian wear, whereas Rahul as a designer wanted to explore his creativity in the western wear segment and in fact that’s what we’re going to see at Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week.

It’s kind of hard to believe that Rahul had absolutely no intentions of being a designer.

It was Abhay (Abhi) who decided to fill up Rahul’s form at NIFT and made him enrol in the college.

“Once I started learning the nuances and technicalities of fashion, I realised how my brother was right — I did have that creative streak in me.

In fact, for me, fashion is something I feel from within; it’s my skin. I do exactly what my instincts and heart tells me to,” says Rahul.

Even though he is the younger one of the two, Rahul admits to be quite a bully when it comes to his older brother but that hasn’t created any rift between the two.

“He’s my brother — we are family! How can we have any problems?” he signs off.
