Musician Anoushka Shankar gets engaged to London-based film-maker Joe Wright; they’re expecting their first baby together

Glamorous sitarist and Pandit Ravi Shankar’s daughter, Anoushka Shankar is expecting her first child in seven months. She has subsequently got engaged to her live-in boyfriend, London-based film-maker Joe Wright. The duo has been dating for little over a year.
“We are so happy. It feels so ridiculous…” Anoushka sent out messages to her friends and staff members after “her mail box was flooded with messages from relatives and friends,” following the news.
“I hope and pray everything goes well with this baby and ask for everyone’s blessings,” she adds. Anoushka also posted the same message on her official networking site and has changed her relationship status to “engaged.” One of her staff from UK informed that the musician was glowing with the compliments and is preparing to make a formal announcement very soon.
Anoushka had previously come on record in an earlier interview that she was dating Joe Wright (of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement fame). The singer was earlier dating Delhi-based socialite Nishant Peralta.
She met Joe at a party before moving in as a couple. “She moved to London about eight months back, and cut down on her work. We got in touch with her for a forthcoming project when she informed us about the delightful news. She is very happy and wants all the best wishes for her baby,” says one of her UK-based staff members.
Reportedly, a delighted Norah Jones, her sister and Grammy award-winner, is flying down to meet her. However, there’s been no word on marriage yet. “She’s more concerned about the baby rather than marriage right now. She is engaged, so a formal decision of marriage will soon follow,” concurs the source.
