Chocolate is like an enchantress that has both men and women under its spell. A gift from the gods, this rich, brown liquid stream of goodness finds its way into milkshakes, desserts, candy bars and ice creams. And as people across the globe raise a toast to World Chocolate Day on July 7, we decided to go on a quest in search of some unique chocolate treats.

GORGE ON CHOCOLATE CROQUETTES

The Spaniards can’t seem to get enough of savoury croquettes, and taking inspiration from that, Decode has created their version of Chocolate Croquettes as a special treat to mark World Chocolate Day. “It’s an illusion that alludes the guest. Croquettes are meant  to be savoury, but this one manages to fool your tastebuds with its sweet, bitter flavour,” says chef Piyush Jain. For lovers of South Indian food, who are equally smitten with chocolate, chef Aman Puri at Imly offers Chocolate Dosa. Coated with Nutella and dark chocolate, these dosas are a feast for your palate with their crisp texture and intense chocolaty flavour. Meanwhile, Nukkad Cafe and Bar is doing out golgappas loaded with Nutella and chocolate.

TRY PRAWNS IN DARK CHOCOLATE

If desserts, are not your thing, how about some seafood with chocolate? Chef Chanchal Dutta at Molecule has the most interesting take on chocolate. He is serving tempura fried prawns glazed in jolokia dark chocolate, paired with white chocolate bhel.  “A combination of mild bhut jolokia and dark chocolate, tempered with olive oil and curry leaves, which gives it a complex flavour.

Double-slow roasted white sesame and mustard are crushed and then sprinkled over the prawns for a finishing touch. The base is a crunchy bhel comprising puffed rice, mixed with onions, ginger, pomegranate, cilantro, green chilli, tossed in pure white chocolate sauce and frozen for a couple of minutes.”

RELISH CHOCOLATE FETTUCCINE

And while you still make your peace with the idea of chocolate and seafood, there’s more to marvel at, chef Harangad Singh at Prankster and Pra Pra Prank has introduced Chocolate Fettuccine with vanilla cream sauce. The flat, thick pasta made of egg and flour is tossed with chocolate in vanilla sauce — a novel combo of salt, sugar and cream to satiate all your chocolate cravings.
