Everyone knows that this year a lot of celebrities have been dealing with issues, from Taylor Swift to Zayn Malik, but one of the pop stars with the most amount of problems this year has got to be Selena Gomez. From being diagnosed with a painful disease to going into rehab, here’s why this year has been tough for the Instagram Queen.
Earlier in the year, Selena was diagnosed with Lupus, a disease that makes the body attack healthy tissues, and can have various side effects for various people. Gomez said that she has since been battling severe anxiety and depression, and is in a ‘very dark place’.
A little into the year, when Justin Bieber was dating model Sofia Richie, and getting a lot of hate for it as well, Selena Gomez commented “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol- it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did.” This led to a feud between the two, which lead to Gomez receiving a lot of hate and apologising publicly on Snapchat.
Selena Gomez later cancelled all her tour dates, but this drastic measure was definitely important. She said, “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”
It was told that Selena Gomez was entering rehab for anxiety and depression at a Tennessee facility, and it is said that this is a ‘super intense’ facility. She was sent there to focus on her mental health and was trying hard to get better.
Everyone commended Gomez on her amazing speech at this year’s AMAs, but it was quite clear that she was having a really tough time. She said that she was ‘broken inside’ and was in a really bad place, and she encouraged all people that no matter how hard things can get, they will get better soon.
