The Kettlery Tea Bar that opens its doors in Horizon in Juhu on March 27, aims to be everyone’s cup of tea. While tea lovers get a chance to sample over 75 different kinds of world class quality teas and blends, others can raise a toast to mocktails, cocktails (something that’s in the pipeline) made of tea blends and gourmet dishes curated by celebrated chef Vicky Ratnani. The brand is helmed by Sandeep Kotecha, who has worked with Disney and Starbucks in Atlanta with Kunal Kotecha as Director. We dropped by for a sneak peek to check what’s on the menu.

Be thirst(tea)...

The Kettlery Tea Bar is not your regular tea cafe. You can choose from a hand-picked selection of premium loose-leaf teas, tisanes (herbal teas), tea infused beverages, tea brewing accessories, and complementary foods. The retail section has some unique tea blends available in 50 gm packets including White chocolate fondue (a white tea priced at Rs 600), Sinbad’s Baklava (a mate priced at Rs 540), Jackfruit Night (a black tea priced at Rs 410), Mulled wine (a herbal tea priced at Rs 500) and Grace of Monaco (a white tea priced at Rs 650) among others.

Food

Both the selection of teas and the dishes have been put together with one thing in mind — to ensure there is a balance and one enhances the flavour of the other, rather than overpowers it. To start with, we ordered a pot of Secrets of The East (Rs 450) an aromatic blend of eight different green teas with rose and  saffron. Light and refreshing, we paired that with the Asian Spiced Bajra Cakes (Rs 300) served here with Thecha mayo, a perfect amalgamation of flavours and culinary technique that hits all the right notes. The Chai Puchka (Rs 200) is another dish that’s perfect for tea-time served with Peppermint and Maldives tea fillers. What you get is an ode to pani puri, this dish retains the essence of this local favourite, giving you a chance to sample the pani puri with the infused tea fillers. For those craving a dessert, we recommend the Must Thandai (Rs 300) an upgraded version of the regular summer beverage. This dessert mocktail is a thandai oolong tea blended with mixed dried fruits and condensed milk, topped with a jalebi.

Verdict: Tea lovers looking to sample and buy some unique blends should drop by for a tasting. It’s a good place to chat over a pot of tea.
