Now, a festival for crime writers!

Crime and thriller writers, authors and publishers are set to congregate in New Delhi early in 2015 as part of the debut edition of the Crime Writers Festival. The festival is being organised by the Crime Writer's Forum for South Asia that was launched in Jaipur during the Jaipur Literature Festival 2014.

Conceptualised by authors Namita Gokhale, Kishwar Desai and the Crime Writer's Forum of South Asia the festival is produced by Siyahi is set for January 17-18. British author David Stuart Davies, French author Caryl Ferey, Norwegian authors Nils Nordberg and Trude Teige, Swedish writer Hakan Nesser are among the international participants.

Amrita Chowdhary, Amrita Tripathi, Anita Raghavan, Aroon Raman, Ashwin Sanghi, Dhritiman Chaterji, Dibakar Banerjee, Dipanker Gupta, Hussain Zaidi, Jerry Pinto, Mukul Deva, Patrick Bryson, Piyush Jha, Rajit Kapoor, Richa Lakhera, Salil Desai, Satyarth Nayak, Suhel Seth, Sumeli Chatterjee, Surender Mohan Pathak, Tarquin Hall, Urmi Juvekar and Zac O' Yeah are among the Indian line-up.

Noted scriptwriters and directors, are also set to join the authors in dissecting the genre in visual medium and performing arts."This January, the festival will examine the art of crime writing to see how it influences society and reflects the blurring lines of right and wrong," organisers said in a statement.

Alka Pande is the creative director of the event that has author Ashwin Sanghi and Priti Paul on its advisory board. Norway is the country partner for the event which is being supported by the Swedish Embassy, French Embassy and the British Council and by NH7.
