Ten women artists celebrating the spirit of womanhood have painted their personal stories on canvas, while exploring the different aspects of being a woman.

The works are part of an exhibition "Tasveer - Exploring the Colors of Womanhood", that portrays woman as a symbol of love, passion, and beauty.

Underway at DLF Promenade here, the show offers an artists glimpse into myriad versions of a "feminine form" while capturing the immense power that inhabits them.

"The show is the celebration of 'Shakti', the power that inhabits every woman. The exhibition opens our mind to women as strong and powerful, the protectors of the universe.

"They were and are always equal and bold. There is no obstacle which can stop them from realising their dreams. She is the Shakti breaking the stereotypes and building a society to live peacefully and happily," says Kumar Vikas Saxena, who has curated the show.

The show also seeks to educate children and youth about the issue of women empowerment.

"Through the medium of arts, we also seek to educate children, youths and adults to understand the importance of their empowerment in today's world," says Saxena.

The show which has been organised in association with Academy of Art and Design, showcases artists Sakshi Kukreja, Archana Gupta, Saloni Arora, Deepakshi Gupta, Lalitha Ravindan and more.

Fascinated by multi-dimensional existence of women, Kukreja works reflect the different moods and roles she plays in her life.

In vibrant brushstrokes, the artist has attempted to understand the free spirit that embodies a woman.

"Being associated with NGO Empowerment for a long time, I have been using art and culture as a tool for social change.

My fascination with multi-dimensional existence of woman serves as a major theme in most of the portraits I do.

"I think without words we can say many things and art serves as beautiful medium to express what you see around," says Kukreja.

One of the paintings, "With the flow", an acrylic on canvas portrays woman as a "free-spirit". In vibrant hues of pinks and yellows, Kukreja associates the idea of an empowered women with being free and independent.

Priyanka Bisht who wants to overcome all her inhibitions by enhancing her capabilities as a woman is interpreting the fairer sex in myriad shades of nature.

Her painting "Blossom Beauty" shows a woman surrounded by flowers which Bisht says, is a reflection of beauty that women have.

She has used wooden dust to give a rough and earthy touch to her works.

"I seek inspiration from nature but women are usually the central theme in most of my works. I interpret women as natural beauties. We emanate resilience, passion as well as beauty in several ways," says Bisht.

The exhibition is set to continue till March 8.
