Will greet the CM Vasundhara Raje, but I am not joining BJP, says Vishwendra Singh

Vishwendra Singh has played his previous innings with BJP. He however switched to Congress at the end of previous tenure of Raje’s government.

Bharatpur ex-royal and Deeg-Kumher legislator from Congress, Vishwendra Singh’s decision to greet chief minister who reaches Bharatpur on her second leg of the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra next week has triggered fresh speculations of his return to the BJP.  Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra enters Bharatpur division on August 16. Raje shall reach  Kumher and Deeg represented by Singh in the state assembly on August 19. The party has planned a welcome event at Kumher while a public meeting will be held in Deeg the same day.

When contacted, Singh confirmed he would be welcoming chief minister Vasundhara Raje when she arrives in his constituency, but clarified he wasn’t switching parties and shall be contesting the elections on a Congress ticket. “I will welcome her as she is the chief minister of the state and I am the legislator here,” Singh told DNA, adding, “I will apprise her of the issues prevailing here.” The former Bharatpur royal, however said he was very much with the Congress party. 

“I am the state vice-president of the Congress and will contest elections on a Congress ticket,” he said.

Vishwendra Singh has played his previous innings with BJP. He however switched to Congress at the end of previous tenure of Raje’s government. In 2013, he registered a remarkable victory against BJP’s Digambar Singh from Deeg-Kumher constituency when the BJP riding high on Modi wave had won 163 seats. He was a political advisor to Raje during her first tenure as chief minister and resigned from Lok Sabha in final year of 2008.With the public meeting in Bhinder and re-entry of Kirorilal Meena back into the BJP fold, Singh’s possible homecoming is being considered a step in that direction.
