With the commencement of work of the refinery in Pachpadra, more than 500 villages of Barmer district will get fresh water from the Himalayas.

The drinking water project, which was on hold since 2013, has not only been re-approved but its work has also gained momentum.

For this, 51 cusecs of water will be available for the refinery project through 536 villages of Barmer. For this, there has been a new agreement between Indira Gandhi Canal Department and HPCL. The work of laying the pipeline has also started. For this, the team of Chief Engineer, PHED Jodhpur and Additional Chief Engineer Barmer Canal are coordinating the work.

For this, the target of bringing Himalayan water to the refinery area has been fixed at December 2018.

According to the information received, the distance from the Indira Gandhi Canal RD 1243.50 point to pachpadra is 200 kilometers.

A head regulator will be built on the right side near the RD 1243 and the canal department will make the regulator. HPCL will be responsible for providing water to the Barmer refinery.

First, a 200 km canal was proposed, but due to the huge expenditure in it, the water will be carried by laying the pipeline.

Around 51 cusecs of water was approved for the project on May 14, 2013 in the Indira Canal Project but the work was stuck due to disagreement among officials of the Canal Refinery Project. Pachpadra refinery will be given water by Pokhran-Falsund-Balotra-Siwana canal. Under the project, a target has been set to complete the work of laying the pipeline till September this year. The target of laying the pipeline till Balotra is September 2018.
