The way city is being spruced up for the visit of Prime minister Narendra Modi is reminding people the days of 2013 when Congress party’s “Chintan Shivir” was held. That time too, the officials were working hard to give an overnight makeover to the city.

The roads were re-made, plants were washed, brand new reflectors on the roads were installed and even the radium paints were done afresh on the road. Most of it was done near the venue Birla Auditorium, which was to see the presence of senior Congress leaders including the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi who was general secretary of the party that time was made the party’s vice president and the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Therefore, the civic authorities like JDA, JMC were working overtime to give a clean look to the city.

The work was being done till late night hours on the roads leading to Birla Auditorium. The radium paint was done between Ambedkar Circle and Statue Circle while blinking reflectors on the road were put across JLN Marg. Senior Congress leaders and ministers were seen running from pillar to post to make board and lodging arrangements for the delegates.

During all this time, the roads were flooded with billboards and hoardings welcoming UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Jaipur.  The Statue Circle was adorned with Congress flags.
