No loss of life was recorded in both the incidents, however, it is estimated that the loss caused due to the fire is worth lakhs of rupees.
Two fires broke out in the city on Monday, keeping the fire department on its toes. While the first incident occurred in C-Scheme area of the city, the second incident was reported from Agra Road area. No loss of life was recorded in both the incidents, however, it is estimated that the loss caused due to the fire is worth lakhs of rupees. Notably, both the incidents were caused due to short circuit in machinery.
The first incident occurred at 12.15 pm at Shoppers Paradise near Rajmahal Hotel in C-Scheme area.
“A small fire broke out in the section where ice-creams were kept in the shopping area. The fire broke out behind an ice-cream deep freezer and went unnoticed for sometime. However, employees at the shop saw the flames. They immediately contacted the fire department and local police about the same,” said Rajendra Nagar, assistant fire officer.
As the information about the outbreak reached the fire officials, two fire tenders were pressed into service. “The fire tenders were sent one each from Bais Godam and Bani Park fire stations. It took a little over half hour to completely extinguish the fire and till that time the area was completely cordoned off for general public,” officials said.
Meanwhile, around 4 pm another outbreak occurred in the city, this time at Agra Road area.
“The fire broke out in a textile stitching factory at Agra Road. When we received the alert, two fire tenders were pressed into service. A short circuit had occurred in one of the machines at the factory and the fire spread quickly in the area. The outbreak destroyed four machines, however, the fire fighters doused the fire within half an hour,” the AFO said.
