Gangapur City to get water from Chambal

Gangapur city will start getting the water from Chambal river this month. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje made the announcement during her Jansamwad with the people of Gangapur city on the last day of her three-day visit to Sawai Madhopur.

Raje said that work is going on various projects to make available drinking water and water for irrigation purpose for the people of the state. Now, Gangapur city will start getting water from the Chambal Sawai Madhopur Nandauti project.

Raje said that the state government had rejuvenated the water project scheme which was started 13 years ago.

Principal secretary of PHED Rajat Mishra, who was present in the Jansamwad along with the chief minister, said that the work on the project was going on at fast pace and the Chambal water had reached Mandrayal. He said that the Chambal water will reach Gangapur city in 15-20 days and additional 50 lakh litres daily water will be supplied in the city.

On this occasion , Chief minister Raje also informed about the various water projects which are currently going on in the state .

She said that the government was working on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) also. This project will ensure availability of water for 13 districts - Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Dholpur, Dausa, Tonk, Bharatpur, Kota, Bundi, Alwar, Baran, Jhalawad , Ajmer and Jaipur.

This project will also be linked to Dholpur lift project and Chambal lift project.

Notably, this project will help in making use of excess water of rivers like Parvati, Kalisindh and Chakan which goes in waste.
