Farmers of Hadauti stage protest in Kota

A large number of farmers from Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran joined the Kisan Pad Yatra today at Kota and submitted memorandum to Kota district collector Rohit Gupta, who also holds the charge of divisional commissioner.

Four-day long Kisan Pad Yatra that commenced from Itawa town of Kota district on Tuesday under the aegis of Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha with various demands concluded at Kota on Friday. A large number of farmers from Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran joined the Kisan Pad Yatra today at Kota and submitted memorandum to Kota district collector Rohit Gupta, who also holds the charge of divisional commissioner. 

The demands of the union is to exempt farmers’ loan of 50,000 from all the banks, the purchase of garlic should be allowed under market intervention scheme, purchase of all crops at maximum support price (MSP) and to sort out the menace of wild animals encroaching into their fields. Later, a nine member delegation met the commissioner and submitted memorandum, Dhuli Chand Bordha, Kota district president of Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha informed.

Garlic in Hadauti has been produced in 1,10,000 hectares of land and if the government does not begin purchase of garlic produce in time, the farmer would be forced to take extreme steps like last year.  

The notification to waive off farmers loan from cooperative banks has also not reached to the concerned authority at the districts level, Dhuli Chand claimed adding they have also demanded to sort out the menace of wild animals encroaching into fields by shifting such wild animals to Mukundra Tiger Hills where tigers are scheduled to be relocated by end of this month.  the farmers’ body official said.
