Seeking a commission of two sitting judges of the Supreme Court to probe the allegations of financial irregularities reported against a company owned by Jay Shah, son of BJP national president Amit Shah, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has demanded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Shah from party post, or seek his resignation taking moral high ground.
“This is a tough call for Modi whether he chooses friend Shah or takes moral high ground to order a probe by a two-member commission of SC judges into the allegation made against his son, Jay,” said Surjewala during a press conference in Jaipur on Monday.
“I demand the PM to seek resignation of Shah or remove him from the post without any delay,” Surjewala said referring to a media report in which Shah’s son company was reported to have earned 16,000 times profit in a year. The report had alleged that the turnover of Temple Enterprise Private Ltd, a company in which Jay Shah was a director, rose 16,000 times from Rs 15,000 in 2014-15 to Rs 80.5 crore in 2015-16. It also said that the company received unsecured loans as well.
“What magic wand was used to earn so much profit in a company which was running in huge loss in 2012-13 and 20014-15. Why they are shying away from probe if there’s nothing wrong? There is no smoke without fire. The country was waiting for development... but ‘Jai ka Vikas ho gaya’. Meanwhile, PPC chief Sachin Pilot during the conference accused the Raje government of waiting for the state assembly election due next year to announce the loan waiver. “CM is waiting for the state assembly election to announce the waiver. Farmers of the state will not be able to wait for 12 months. She should waive off loans of farmers immediately,” he told reporters at a joint press with Surjewala. Pilot also accused Raje of dividing the society by meeting representatives of different castes separately during her tour of the state. “It leaves a negative impact in the society.”
