After extending monetary help to the kin of the martyred CRPF jawans from Rajasthan, chief minister Ashok Gehlot has given the nod to have the mementos and memorabilia he has been in receipt throughout his career in public service.

Gehlot has now offered to auction his mementos and souvenirs to the public for collecting funds for martyrs’ families. Bharat Seva Sansthan Vice President and Congress leader Rajiv Arora said the institution will take up the auction of such gifts.

“In its endeavour to raise funds to support the families of martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in service of our nation, Bharat Seva Sansthan, Rajasthan, has received a go ahead from chief minister Ashok Gehlot for the auction of prestigious mementos and memorable gifts he has received,” Rajiv Arora said. The function will be conducted on March 3, 2019, in Jaipur, the state Congress office bearer added.

Sources said the institution, which has taken up similar activities to source help for natural calamities and for funding humanitarian causes, had approached the chief minister with the request to raise funds for the families of martyred CRPF jawans.

The sansthan had received support from Gehlot twice. This is third such endeavour when he has agreed to assist and his mementos are being auctioned by the Sansthan, sources said. In the past, the institution has worked to provide relief during the Kargil War, the floods in Kashmir, the devastating earthquake of Bhuj and for arranging relief for the Tsunami and flood victims in Kerala.

Secretary of the institution, GS Bapna appealed to citizens of Rajasthan across social spectrum to come forward with open arms and support this initiative so that maximum possible assistance can be extended to martyrs’ kin.
