The special designated court on Tuesday reserved order on the petition filed by a civic rights group, Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM), and the latter has asked the court to fix the deadline for the team appointed by the apex court to file their final report on the Gulbarg case.

Arguing for the petition, Amrish Patel contended that the trial of the case is nearing conclusion. If the agency failed to submit the report prior to the time, it would cause great prejudice to the victims of the case who are also the petitioner. He also alleged that there deliberate attempts are being made to delay the filing of the report.

Public prosecutor Akhilesh Desai contended that it is a case of further investigation, and not the reinvestigation, of the case. In this case, the investigation is still in progress and there is no indication about when would it reach a logical conclusion and there is no indication when the SIT can submit the report. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court reserved its order on the application, and will pronounce the order on
December 3.
