Youth dies after self-immolation in Uttar Pradesh

Ved Prakash Pandey alias Guddu, immolated himself in front of district magistrate's residence on Sunday evening demanding his father’s release, who was arrested after he failed to repay a loan, police said.

A youth, who immolated himself in front of the district magistrate's residence demanding his father's release died here, police said on Monday.

The youth, identified as Ved Prakash Pandey alias Guddu, immolated himself in front of district magistrate Ram Bahadur's residence on Sunday evening, they said.

Pandey's father, who was arrested after he failed to repay a loan, was released after his son's death on humanitarian grounds, Bahadur said.
