Crime branch today arrested a youth for allegedly sending threat text messages to police officers saying bombs had been planted at ten important places of the city and Gandhinagar, police said.
The accused was identified as Gaurav alias Rahul Gandhi who sent threat text messages yesterday, leading the police to launch a major search operation with dog and bomb disposal squads, they said.
A bomb disposal squad (BDS), dog squad and local police were sent to various locations for searches yesterday after the messages was received. However, nothing incriminating was found, they said.
In the preliminary inquiry, Gaurav told police that he was in love with a girl, but her brother was creating hurdles in his affair. He procured documents of the girl's brother and bought a Sim card in his name after which he sent the threat messages to the police officers to teach him a lesson, they said.
"He had done this to take revenge from the brother of the girl", police said.
