Women organise demonstrations to highlight demands

Women held rallies and demonstrations in various parts of Gujarat to celebrate the 100th year of International Women's Day today.
   
During the demonstrations here, organised under the banner of All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan, women were carrying cards raising demands like strict implementation of prohibition policy, controlling of prices of essential commodities, stopping atrocities on women, banning obscenity in media and stopping gender bias and discrimination.
   
March 8 is a day which kindled the long suppressed desire for freedom from fetters! It's a day which inspired the women to close their ranks to tear asunder the age old shackles of prejudices to fight for their legitimate rights, the women participating in the demonstrations said.
