In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly lured by a woman from Juhapura and handed over to two men who took her to hotel in Narol and raped her. The woman and her accomplices are believed to be members of a gang involved in forcing young girls into prostitution.
The matter came to light when Faija Altaf Ghanchi, the woman who had allegedly abducted the girl, dropped her at her home on May 11. The police have registered a case against Faiza and the two men and have started investigations in the matter.
According to the case details, the 12-year-old girl, Rehana (name changed) had been living with her grandmother, Shakinabibi Vohra, 80, at Fatehwadi in Juhapura. Rehana had gone missing on April 17 from an AMTS bus stop near Vishala circle. After she failed to return, her grandmother lodged a complaint with Aslali police station.
However, on May 11, Faija, who is originally from Vankaner in Rajkot, brought Rehana to Shakinabibi's house and left immediately after handing over the girl. When Shakinabibi and other family members tried to talk to Rehana, they realised that she was ill and had become mentally disturbed.
Shakinabibi informed her son-in law Ghulam Rasul Malek and Rehana's father, Abdul Raheman, about the girl's return. Rehana slept for one whole day and when she woke up she told a horrific tale of how she was abducted and raped by several men. Her family members also found burn marks on her left leg.
Shakinabibi took the girl to Vejalpur police station on Saturday and registered a case against Faija, and two men who were identified by Rehana as Azim and Ashif.
Rehana told the police that Faija had approached her on April 17 at 9 pm when she was standing near an AMTS bus stop near Vishala circle.
Faija asked Rehana to come with her. She took the minor girl to Jamalpur in an auto-rickshaw. During the night, Faija allegedly asked her to sleep on the footpath and told her that she will come back the next morning and take her to her home.
Next day (April 18), however, Faija came with Azim and Ashif and they took the girl to a hotel in Narol. According to Rehana, both the men raped her in a room of the hotel. Then Faija called other unidentified men who also raped the hapless girl.
When Rehana tried to protest, Faija allegedly tortured her by branding her leg. When she fell ill after some days, Faija brought her to her grandmother's residence and left her with Shakinabibi.
