Woman commits suicide in Delhi

Kamla, 40, set herself on fire at the first-floor residence in Sangam Vihar at around 7:30 am and her husband Kailash rushed her to Safdurjung Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Apparently depressed over childlessness, a 40-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in her residence in south-east Delhi this morning, police said.
 
Kamla set herself on fire at the first-floor residence in Sangam Vihar at around 7:30 am and her husband Kailash rushed her to Safdurjung Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
 
No suicide note was recovered from her. Police suspect that she took the extreme step as she was depressed over not having a child.
 
The couple had adopted a boy sometime back.
 
The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.          
 
A case has been registered and further investigations are on, a senior police official said.
