A woman was arrested by the Vatva police in connection with the murder of a five-year-old girl. Earlier on November 10, 2011, the accused, Shabana Arif Chipa, had informed the Vatva police about the death of the girl, Ashka, after she fell from her bed.

Ashka was the daughter of Imran Chipa, Shabana's boyfriend.

Police said Imran was a divorcee while Shabana, who has a son, was separated from her husband. Both Imran and Shabana were in love. Imran had left Ashka at Shabana's place when he had to go out of station. On November 10, when Shabana came home, she saw Ashka lying dead on the floor. She told the police that Ashka had fallen from the bed and died because of the injuries. But Imran who suspected foul play told police of his doubts and the child's body was sent for post-mortem. The report revealed that the girl had died due to internal head injuries that could not have been possibly received by falling from a bed.

Shabana was later arrested by the Vatva police. Cops believe that the accused found the child to be an impediment to their relation and hence decided to murder her.
