It was the statements of Moti Talja Desai, a head constable posted at the Naranpura police station, Raju Jeerawala, owner of the Arham farmhouse and Raman, a watchman of the farm house which gave momentum to the investigation in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
These statements were also what eventually helped in the reconstruction of the scene of the crime.  Sources in Ishrat-SIT said that one of the two Pakistani nationals killed in the encounter was kept in captivity at Arham farmhouse for about five days prior to the date of encounter.

The statements of Raman and Jeerawala when read together revealed that people were detained in the farmhouse, said sources.

However, sources also said that it was to substantiate the statements of these three witnesses that the scene of crime was reconstructed by the team. But no official confirmation about the same was available.

Jeerawala, in his statement to Verma had earlier told that he had given the keys of the farmhouse to police inspector JG Parmar, who apparently detained few people in the farmhouse allegedly at the behest of his senior officials in Detection of Crime Branch.

Jeerawala, however, allegedly told the cops that he had no idea who was kept at the farmhouse but revealed the name of a watchman who was there when the incident happened.  Then the watchman's statement was recorded on December 19, 2010 by Verma

Apart from that the weekly diaries of Parmar and other officers also appear to be confirming the disclosures made by Desai, source said.  Parmar is also the complainant in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
