From Mustafa Kamal, Omar’s uncle, to GN Ratanpuri, Rajya Sabha member from south Kashmir, and Mubarak Gul, advisor to the chief minister, the party leaders are indulging in mud-slinging in open sending tongues wagging over the unity of the grand old party of Jammu and Kashmir.
The latest name in this list is Ratanpuri, a radio broadcaster turned politician, who has accused the chief minister’s aides of creating disenchantment in the party. Ratanpuri said Kashmiris are being disempowered on political and development fronts.
The accusation evoked sharp reaction from NC brass with Omar’s political advisor Mubarak Gul going to the extent saying that the Rajya Sabha member has lost his mental balance.
“It is unfortunate that Ratanpuri who was till the other day a small time broadcaster could not come to terms with his elevation to the Rajya Sabha and failed to perform his duties as an MP. He has lost his balance and is making absurd, frivolous baseless statements which are figment of his imagination and are bereft of facts,” Gul said.
Gul said a failed rootless politician like Ratanpuri should not comment upon the performance of other political entities. “It is Ratanpuri who is disgruntled and not the party. He is not been able to create any base for himself in Pulwama district which he represents despite being an MP for over two years,” he said.
This is the second major voice of revolt since NC activist Syed Mohommad Yousuf’s mysterious death hit the party in the last two months.
