Wife threatened with morphed obscene pics for dowry in Ahmedabad

This is as bizarre as it gets. Chandkheda police have registered a dowry case in which a man allegedly threatened to post obscene morphed pictures of his wife on the Internet if she did not agree to his dowry demand. The couple married after meeting through a matrimonial website.

Amit Gupta, an executive with a multinational tyre company and working as a area manager in Kolkatta married one Sapna (name changed) on February 19, 2011. But Sapna was allegedly thrown out by her husband on March 3, 2011 when she refused to fulfil Gupta's dowry demands.

The couple had married in Ahmedabad.  Sapna mentioned in her complaint that Gupta had taken some pictures of their sexual encounter. He then threatened to morph the same to show that she was in a relation with some other man.

"Gupta allegedly asked Sapna to give him a land owned by her father," a police officer said. Sapna was harassed in Kolkata and was not allowed to call or meet anyone until she was thrown out of the house, said a police source.

She then managed to book ticket on a flight with the help of a relative and reached Ahmedabad. Sapna said that Gupta even tried to suffocate her with a pillow and even forced her to consume mosquito repellent. But she did not succumb to his threats. "She was beaten and was also harassed by her in-laws," the police official said. Sapna lived with Gupta's parents in Chattisgarh for few days and later on both of them moved to Kolkata.
