Waterlogging affects vehicular movement in Delhi

Vehicular movement was affected in some parts of the national capital this morning due to water logging caused by rains.

Though there were no rains in the early morning hours, last evening's showers had its effect on the traffic today as water logging was not cleared.

A senior police officer said vehicular movement was affected on MG Road near Qutub Metro station, Azad Market Chowk, Model Town and Azadpur Metro station.

The capital received 21.2 mm of rains for a period of 24 hours ending 8.30am today. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius.

Vehicular movement came to a virtual halt last night as motorists were stuck in jams at almost all the arterial roads across the capital following heavy rains that led to water logging and breakdown in traffic signals.

Massive traffic jams were reported yesterday from ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Ring Road, India Gate, South Extension, Moolchand, Ashram Chowk and several areas in East and North Delhi.

Yesterday, the MCD received 102 complaints of water logging across the city.
