The Karnataka government today said that if the rains in Cauvery catchment areas in the state continues for a few more days, water will be released to the neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

"At present, the Cauvery catchment areas in Karnataka are receiving good rainfall. If the trend continues for a few more days, we will consider releasing water to Tamil Nadu," chief minister BS Yeddyurappa told reporters in Nagapattinam.

Asked about the purpose of his visit, Yeddyurappa said he was on a pilgrimage to 'Navagraha' temples in Tamil Nadu praying for rains and well being of people in both the states.

At Vaitheeswarankoil in Nagapattinam district, he offered worship at Lord Vaidyanadaswamy temple and later proceeded to nearby Tirunallar in Karaikal district and Lord Saneeswara temple.

At Tirunallar, ahead of Yedyurappa's visit, four persons belonging to 'Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam', a political outfit floated by director Seeman known for his pro-LTTE stand, were arrested for allegedly attempting to show black flags.
