Vohra meets officials for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra

To conduct the annual Amarnath yatra beginning in June smoothly, Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra has called for a greater synergy between various government agencies.
       
"There is a need for greater synergy among civil administration, police, security forces, Shrine Board authorities and each of the various concerned state government departments, service providers and all the stakeholders for ensuring that the required arrangements for the yatra are in place well in time," Vohra said after chairing a high level meeting here.
       
The meeting held at Raj Bhavan last evening was attended by Divisional commissioner Naseem Lankar and inspector general of police, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad, among others.
      
Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), discussed various matters with the officers to ensure timely arrangements for the yatra, expected to commence in June, an official spokesman said.
      
Referring to the already drawn up schedule of sector-wise coordination meetings, the governor emphasized that the interactions in these meetings should be followed by the required action on ground for securing effective implementation of the various decisions.
       
The meeting discussed in detail the arrangements which are required to be made at Baltal and Nunwan, the two base camps leading to the 3,880 metre high cave shrine which houses the naturally formed ice-Shivlingam.

He also discussed the arrangements at various places on both the yatra routes.
