VNSGU gets Rs8 cr donation

Cousins donate for sports facilty and other buildings in varsity.

The Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) received its diwali gift in the form of donation of Rs8 crore from two people on Friday.  Kamlesh Patel and Raju Patel from Bharthana village in Surat donated money to the varsity for construction of an ultra-modern sports facility and other academic buildings in the campus.

Under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the university will house new faculties for Fine Arts, Architecture and Interior Designing.

Varsity vice-chancellor, BA Prajapati honoured both donors at his office on Thursday. "We expressed our requirements of the university to the donors and they willingly donated money for new faculties," Mahendra Chauhan, syndicate member of VNSGU, who played a major role in bringing these donors, said.

"Kamlesh is an avid follower of cricket and he wanted to donate money so that the varsity can invest for a sports facitlity," Chauhan added. The syndicate body of VNSGU approved the motion regarding donation given by both youths on Thursday. Sources said that stone laying ceremony of all six projects to be undertaken by the varsity will be held within a week.

Kamlesh and Raju Patel, both residents of Bharthana village are cousins and everything created will be named after their grandfather Late Chaganbala Patel.
