An FIR has been registered by the Bihar Vigilance Bureau against a senior IAS officer and former commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation K Senthil Kumar and 13 others for allegedly causing a loss of Rs 8.77 crore to the civic body, official sources said today.
The FIR registered at Vigilance police station here last evening alleged that Senthil, now director of Census Operations, worked with the land and building mafia for personal benefit.
Sanction for altogether 130 buildings was given during his tenure by allegedly compromising on safety norms and basic amenities.
He and other officials have also been charged with corruption in purchase of two-way communication sets, street lights, pumps for solid waste managements, spending more on bio-metric cards and awarding work contracts to an infrastructure company in violation of norms, the sources said.
