Heatwave swept across the Vidarbha region today with Chandrapur recording highest temprature in the region, weather bureau said.
Chandrapur, which maintained high temperature since the onset of summer, recorded 46.1 degree celsius thereby crossing the danger mark of 45 degree celsius, it said.
While Brahmapuri, a small township in Chandrapur district, was the second hottest place with 45.7 degree celsius.
Nagpur recorded 45.5 degree celsius forcing citizens to remain indoors. Neighbouring Wardha district, which is also experiencing high temperature throughout the season, recorded 45.2 degree celsius.
Temperatures of other important cities are as follows: Buldana-45.0,Gondia-44.3,Akola-44.0,Yavatmal-43.6, Amravati-42.5,Washim-42.4 degree celsius.
