The VHP on Monday said it will move the Supreme Court against the UPA government's decision to grant 4.5% reservation to Muslims under OBC quota.
"The 4.5% reservation to Muslims within the 27% OBC quota is a politically motivated move ahead of elections in five states. We will challenge this in the Supreme Court," VHP Organising General Secretary Dinesh Chander said in Ludhiana.
"Religion-based reservation is against the Constitution," he told reporters, adding that VHP is also planning to start a mass awareness campaign against the government's move.
"We have also lodged a strong protest with the Election Commission as the move came just three days ahead of the poll dates announcement," he said.
