Three girl students of the Commerce and Science faculties of Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Vadodara sent rakhis to Congress general secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi, on the occasion of Raksha bandhan. Nikita Gavde (Science Faculty), Priyal Bhavsar and Prachi Patel (Commerce Faculty) have despatched three rakhis to Gandhi through courier two days ago.

These girls were much impressed when Gandhi, during his visit to the city in February this year, visited the university campus. He had spent more than one-and-a-half-hour and freely mingled with the students and interacted with them and to understand their views on the prevailing situation in the country, particularly what is required in educational system to meet the challenges faced by the country.

The three girls hoped Gandhi would become prime minister of the country and will "fulfill our wish of empowering women and ensure passage of the Women Reservation Bill in the Parliament giving 33% reservation to women in the Parliament and state assemblies.

Meanwhile, girls from Hindu and Muslim communities in Tandlja locality in the city came together to tie rakhis on the wrists of boys belonging to both the communities and created scenes of communal harmony in the city.
