Uttar Pradesh government approves ragging ordinance

Uttar Pradesh cabinet today approved Prohibition of Ragging in Educational institutions Ordinance-2009.

At a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister Mayawati the ordinance was approved, official sources said, adding that as the Vidhan Sabha session was not in progress, the ordinance was passed by the cabinet to check ragging.

The Ordinance recommends complete ban on ragging in educational institutions and strict action against offenders.
