To effectively check cyber crimes, the Haryana police has set up a state-of-the-art training facility for its personnel by joining hands with industry body NASSCOM.

The ultra modern cyber-lab at the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban will impart requisite knowledge and skill to the Haryana police personnel in the field of cyber crimes investigation and related areas like cyber security, awareness and prevention, Haryana director general of police RS Dalal said.

An MoU was signed with NASSCOM in October 2009 to set up the cyber-lab which will be inaugurated on August 5.

The first batch would commence training from August 9.

"After the training, the Haryana police personnel would be fully equipped to deal with cyber crimes effectively. This venture would be a harbinger of change and modernisation and also open new areas of cooperation between the police and private sector," Dalal said.

The facility has been set up at a cost of Rs29 lakh excluding the cost of land and building, said Dalal. The lab is equipped with 25 computers.

NASSCOM had engaged an expert in information security to coordinate the training work at the cyber lab.
