Ulfa militant killed in encounter in Assam

An Ulfa militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam's Nalbari district today, police said.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of about six ULFA militants at Lakhoupur under Belsor police station, a joint team of CRPF and police personnel launched a joint operation in the area.

A militant was killed in the ensuing encounter while the others managed to escape.
   
A 9 mm pistol and some blank cartridges were recovered from the encounter site and a massive search operation has been launched to nab the militants who managed to escape.
