Two Pakistan nationals were arrested today for illegally crossing over to Indian territory near the Attari border, just few yards away from the visitor gallery where the daily Retreat Ceremony is performed by BSF during sunset.

Imtiaz Ali (20) and Abid Ali (24) who had crossed over to India through the barbed fencing were found without any passport and visa.

According to an official at Attari, both the Pakistani nationals were arrested with one Pakistani mobile phone, a sim card and nearly Rs250 Pak currency.

During the questioning, they told BSF that they were from a poor family from Faislabad in Pakistan and had come to Wagah border on Pakistan side to enjoy evening parade jointly performed by the two international border forces.

They claimed that as they had come in the noon, much before the timing of Retreat Ceremony; hence they were advised by the Pakistani Rangers to take stroll around the international border to pass time.

During strolling, they inadvertently arrived on Indian territory just backside of the Indian viewers gallery at Attari border where they were caught when sitting alongside of water tube well, said the official.

He said that during interrogation it was established that both the Pak national were innocent and special flag meeting with Pakistan Rangers would be arranged to facilitate their repatriation.

There was very less chances for the registration of illegal border crossing case against them since they were innocent, the official said.
