Two insurgents of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have surrendered to Assam Rifles at Hrankhawlpara in Dhalai district, the police said today. The ultras identified as Dhananjoy Reang and Motaraham Reang have surrendered unconditionally to the camp-in-charge of Assam Rifles at Hrankhawlpara yesterday, the police said.

They did not deposit any arm, the police said. The ultras during interrogation stated that they fled from their camp in neighbouring Chittagong Hill Tract in Bangladesh as food and economic crisis gripped the camp inmates due to non-payment by the organisation, the police said.

Staying in camps in Bangladesh also became tough due to raids by the security forces there as they do not allow insurgents to use the soil of Bangladesh after the new government led by Sheikh Hasina came to power in the country, the insurgents were quoted as saying.
