To fund lavish lifestyle 2 school dropouts stole all kinds of vehicles.
From a flashy Hyundai i-10 to the humble Luna, nothing was out of bounds for two thieves in Ahmedabad.
The duo, both minors, stole these vehicles using duplicate keys. They would have continued to go about their business but for the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) which forced them to finally shut-shop.
As in most cases, the DCB nabbed the duo following a tip-off, perhaps given by jealous competitors who couldn't stomach their graduation from stealing a Luna to getting away with expensive cars. Officials said that sleuths of the investigating agency had been tracking the duo for some time now.
Police said that the duo mostly operated in posh areas and Vastrapur and Satellite was a favourite jaunt of theirs. Officials said that the duo was nabbed with the stolen i-10 which they were driving. The i 10 belonged to one Pankaj Nagori, a resident of Dhananjay tower near Shyamal crossroads.
A Maruti frontie that they stole and another TVS excel moped that was taken from the Sardar centre near Vastrapur lake on February 9 this year is yet to be recovered. The duo had also stolen a Luna from the Judges Bungalow road. "The duo also stole two Honda Activa. One of them was stolen from a location near the Goyal intercity plaza on February 2," said the official.
Sources said one of the minor is a class V dropout while other had studied till class VII.
Officials said that the duo used to sell the stolen vehicles to buyers in Dabhoi village to make a quick buck. "The accused belong to lower middle class families. They thought of stealing these vehicles to make easy money and fund a life of luxury," an official said.
Sources said that the duo was produced before the juvenile court on Monday. They were nabbed by a team headed by police inspector MD Chaudhary of the DCB, sources said.
