Two militants killed in encounter in North Kashmir's Bandipora district

Army today foiled an infiltration bid in north Kashmir's Bandipora district by gunning down two militants.

The two heavily-armed infiltrators were confronted by the army when they were trying to sneak into Gurez sector, 160km from here, a defence spokesman said.

The ultras were asked to surrender but they opened fire at the security forces, he said, adding in the ensuing gunbattle the duo was killed.

Operation was continuing when reports last came in.
