Two employees killed in explosion in gas factory

Two employees were killed and five injured, one of them seriously, in an explosion at a gas filling station in Vedvyas area on the outskirt of Rourkela, Orissa this evening.

The police said about 20 to 30 gas tanks burst, resulting in a huge explosion in the factory of Asiatic Gas.

The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained but the failure of the cooling system in the gas filling station was stated to be the reason behind the incident.

The two deceased employees of the factory were yet to be identified.

Fire brigade personnel fought for about three hours to control the fire. The entire area of the factory was cordoned off by the police and other safety measures taken to avoid spread of the fire.
