Two labourers were killed, while 18 others sustained injuries after Sumul Dairy's tempo turned turtle near Amalpada village in Songadh early on Saturday morning. Ten people who received grievous injuries have been shifted to the new Civil hospital for further treatment.

According to information, Sumul dairy's tempo (GJ-19-T-1371) had gone to deliver milk in villages around Songadh. While returning, the driver offered lift to 30 passengers from Borda and Amalpada village to Songadh. While negotiating a sharp turn few kilometers away from Amalpada village, the driver lost control of the overloaded vehicle and it turned turtle and rammed into nearby rocks.

Two people who died on the spot have been identified as Chagan Vasava, 32 and Ranjit Vasawa, 18, both residents of Kulivel village in Songadh taluka and casual labourers by profession. Condition of three people is said to be serious.

The injured people blame lack of proper bus connectivity in villages surrounding Songadh to be the root cause for such mishaps. ST buses don't maintain regular timings due to which they are forced to take such rides to reach their work places.
