Two-day meet to discuss Gujarat's 'golden' goals

Gandhinagar: Chief minister Narendra Modi held an all ministers and secretaries' meeting on Tuesday to discuss the state government's final 50 golden jubilee goals. The government aims to achieve these, which have been under finalisation for almost two years, within the next few years.

Highly placed sources inform that the state planning department has organised two-day high-level meeting, headed by the CM, to finalise the goals.

While discussing about the state education and urban development department's goals, improving the student achievement ratio to 65%, providing computer based education in all the schools and training through Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS) to youth for employment were mainly highlighted. Whereas the urban development department focussed ontraining of urban poor youth under "Umeed'' employment scheme, providing houses to slum dwellers, door-to-door garbage collection in all urban areas, transport facilities like BRTS/Metro in cities, pure drinking water in 100 cities and underground drainage in 40 cities, formed the other main topics.

Also, the forest and environment dept held a presentation on subjects like Van Bandhu scheme, rural development, Sagar Khedu (coastal development) and Sarvangi Vikas Scheme besides infrastructure development in tribal areas. Goals of other departments will be discussed and finalised in the next few days.
