Two arrested with five kg opium in New Delhi

The opium was brought from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi, additional commissioner of police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said.

Two persons were arrested in the national capital for trafficking over five kg of high quality opium worth around Rs 7.5 lakh, police said today.

The opium was brought from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi, additional commissioner of police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said. The arrested have been identified as Kishan Chand (33) and Roop Lal (34), both residing in Himachal Pradesh.
    
They were arrested from Mukundpur?"Azadpur Road near Outer Ring Road yesterday. They were on way to Jaipur in a car and 5.1 kg of opium was recovered from them, police said.

"The duo told us they had procured opium from their associate Roop Chand in Manali. In the past, they had sold opium in Jaipur and they were trying to find a suitable buyer in Delhi for quite some time," Thakur said.
    
This was the fourth trip of Chand to Jaipur via Delhi in the past six months. Lal with Kishan Chand and has been visiting Rajasthan along with him to sell drugs, officials said.
