Two arrested, 2000 kg ganja seized in Nagaland

Two persons were arrested and 2,002 kg of ganja, estimated to be valued at over Rs 16 lakh, were seized from an oil taker at Dimapur, the police said.

Two persons were arrested and 2,002 kg of ganja, estimated to be valued at over Rs 16 lakh, were seized from an oil taker at Dimapur, the police said today.
    
The tanker carrying the narcotic was moving along in a convoy but stopped by excise personnel after getting a tip-off at Naharbari junction of the town and recovered ganja packed in sacks and marked with serial numbers and weight.
    
The driver and the handyman of the oil tanker bearing registration number of Manipur were arrested, the police said.
    
Commissioner of excise M Patton said the oil tanker was bound for Tinsukia in Assam after a brief stopover at Khatkhati in Assam-Nagaland border.
    
The keys to unlock the tanker were in the possession of the dispatcher and the receiver of the oil tanker, Patton said.
